Cleansing Waters
Dali Higa
Oil on Canvas · 72 × 72 in.
Artwork notes
Cleansing Waters
Water
The foundation of life
God uses it to cover the earth
Which he continues to punish and to bless
Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, John and beyond
All harnessed its power to bless and to cleanse
To Jews and Gentiles alike Cleansing Waters are a blessing from God Perhaps we should be thankful more for what we share than what we condemn

Looking Froward
Dali Higa
Oil on Canvas · 40 × 30 in.
Artwork notes
Looking beyond
Today we work
As we have worked day by day
To the fields in the rivers
Work that life asks us to do
But you are always with me
Though a load you may be
Staring past where we are now
What do you see?
Off in the distance past this life
Hope you and me

The parade of history records our deeds
What shall they be:

Or the world tomorrow
Where lion and lamb lay down together
Choices cowme blessings and curses
Let us watch the parade as children
With hope and not shame

Created one by one

A few run astray
Yet the Shepherd maintains harmony
He will leave the many and risk all to save the few
He is not willing that any should perish
The life of a Shepherd
Frozen in time

Russian Village
Dali Higa
Oil on Canvas · 24 × 30 in.
Artwork notes
Russian Village
The Russians
Bold, proud, enduring survivors.
Survivors of Napoleon, Hitler, Lenin and Stalin
But more than survivors.
Triumph distilled with the crucible of suffering
The fire that burns them does not destroy them
The cold that stops an army does not quench the fire
The fire that burns forges itself in Russia’s art, music and dance.
Even the Communists could not instill mediocrity.
The Russian Village stands independent for the whole world to see.
Battered yet standing like the sage.
Who has left more after leaving this earth?

She played with your senses
But innocent she remained
And I have already written of her
And there is not much more to say
To paint her was extraordinary
Misty was her name
